Bodega Kitchen News March 2011

Each piece is unique and made by hand.  The specialized alloy is sand cast and goes through four levels of polishing to produce a brilliant luster.  Their finish is similar to sterling silver, yet never requires polishing.  It's quite different from anything we've ever seen before.  You really must see it to appreciate it.

Featured Wine & Beer

St. Francis Red Splash California 2007    $8.50

A blend of 48% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, 3% Zinfandel and 6% Mixed Blacks (Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Alicante, Malbec), RED has notes of ripe red fruit and spicy aromas. Full-bodied and versatile, RED pairs well with a spring evening BBQ.

Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc N Zealand '08 $15.55
Winemaker's notes: Mild straw, with lemon tones. Vibrant currant-leaf, citrus and gooseberry aromas, with freshly cut herb undertones. A full flavored, medium bodied wine, with an abundance of archetypal currant and gooseberry flavors, that linger on the dry, clean finish.
Try with: Summer salads, poultry and shellfish, such as Marlborough's famous green shell mussels, as well as lobster and white fish.
Critical acclaim: "Lively aromas of yellow fruit and stone fruit with soft herbal undertones. Bright acidity and a fine balance of minerals with green and yellow fruit."

Kitchen Link of the Month
We like to share some of the weird, wild, fun or helpful websites that we come across in the kitchen and culinary fields.

With better weather upon us, we thought we would share a great BBQ website link.  To highlight their creativity we linked to a recipe called Bacon Explosion.

If that is not a creative enough use of bacon try this link.  Who knew they used bacon in so many ways.
